Happy New Year!

...and what a great year it was for us!!! We had a laid back day here at the Coggin house. Cole has been a little croupy with a cough so we just chilled at home most of the day, besides our outing to the store. Casey was home with us today so we just relaxed and watched bowl games all day. I threw in a little house work here and there, but not much :)
Cole and I went to Publix to get a few items for our New Years Day meal tomorrow (Pork Chops, Macaroni and Cheese, Turnip Greens, Black eyed peas and corn bread). They had this really cute car cart and Cole thought he was big stuff in it. He was cracking me up!
Happy New Year to everyone. We hope you have a wonderful 2012 as we are excited to see what God has in store for us.

Cole's 1st Christmas

Merry Christmas! Love, The Coggins
Well, I am completely exhausted but we sure did have fun! We just got back tonight from celebrating Christmas with the Coggins. We went to Berry, AL. It was a short trip, but good to see everyone. We are officially done celebrating Christmas 2011, Cole's 1st Christmas. He had no idea what was going on but he loved all the attention, wrapping paper and tissue paper! :)
Our Christmas started Christmas Eve when Uncle Ben and Uncle Brad came over. Case was in the mood to cook some appetizer's so that is what we did. We also made fudge, which is a Coggin family tradition.

Then Monday the 26th we went to AL for our last celebration. I was not feeling very well and we had actually thought that we were not going to go, but then at the last minute we did. I am glad we did although it was exhausting for me. It is a 4 1/2 hour drive down there. Cole actually did really well. It the past he has not been a very good traveler. We got down there Monday night and went to the basketball tournament that Berry girls and Hazel Green boys (Greg's team) were in. Cole was not a fan of the game. Actually I think it was the gym and being tired. The echo, screeches, horns, fans yelling, well it was to much for him. He spent most of the games outside of the gym. Both teams won though! Whoo Hoo! and will go on to play Tuesday. That night we went back to Vic and Jennifer's to hang out and spend the night. I was leery about this as well. Cole doe snot do well in his bed. He did stay up a little later than usual but was asleep by 8:30. He slept good from 8:30-3:30, then he was done. We were up most of the night, which made for one tired momma, especially since I did not feel well anyways. Tuesday morning we had a big breakfast and then had our dirty Santa game with the family. Casey ended up with a neck massage and I ended up with a Starbucks gift card, a can of spam and a lottery scratch off. Cole got some presents as well :) He got lots of stuff for the bath from Uncle Lincoln, Aunt Pam, Seth and Zane. He got $ from Paw Paw Wilb, and he got two sleepers and a puzzle from the Herren crew. Everyone was so glad to see Cole. We left Tuesday around 3:00, when the others were leaving to go to the tournament. It was a long ride home, but all in all we had a good time. I will have to see if Aunt Pam has any pictures. Our camera died so we do not have any pictures from AL.

I forgot to mention on Friday, the 23rd. Cole and I went over to our "old" neighbors house, The Russell's. There daughter Ashley and I are good friends. The Russell's moved next door to us when I was 5 years old and Ashley was 1. I thought she was my real live baby doll. I carried her around everywhere, dressed her up and learned to french braid by playing with her hair all the time. We went over there because Ashley has a little girl, Sarah, who was born the day before Cole. Ashley was actually due a month later than me, but her water broke and we ended up having them within 24 hrs of each other. So we wanted Sarah and Cole to meet. Here are a few pics from our afternoon with them.

8 months

The best one we got! :)
Well, I am a little late getting this one out because for 8 months Cole got a fever. It wasn't anything bad, but I did get called at work and had to pick him up early. Then we had to stay home the next day since you cannot return to school for 24 hours after having a fever. I thought it was teething, but I have thought most symptoms he has had for the last 4 months have been teething, but still no teeth. We did go see Dr. Mishu because she wanted to rule out an ear infection after I had told her that he had not slept well for the last few nights. She said he was "perfect", her words. I love her accent. She makes it sound so good. She said it was not teething, but it looked like he would get his first tooth next month. Who knows though? Guess we will see :) He only had the fever for about 6 hours, maybe. The highest it got was 101.9, which for babies is not that high. The doctor said at his age they do not even consider it a fever until 101.
Cole is "talking" all the time now. I think I have said this before, but he just keeps talking more and more and now he actually sounds like he is saying words to you. He loves to say da-da. He doesn't know what he is saying but he says it all the the time. I asked him what about ma-ma, he whispered to me da-da. It was SO funny. I didn't know he could whisper either. Everyday he amazes us. He also makes this sound that sounds like "hmm". So when you are talking to him and he makes it, it seems like he knows what you are saying. His facial expressions kill me, so funny! He LOVES music. When he hears it now he will sway, bounce his head or rock back and forth. He got that from his daddy. I like music, but Casey loves it. He use to play lots of different types of music to Cole in my belly. Cole must have been listening :) He loves to clap his hands too! It is just the sweetest thing. I have always been amazed by babies and how fast they learn, but to have your own and experience it day in and day out truly is a blessing. I am looking forward to a wonderful Christmas. I sure do feel blessed and have a lot to be thankful for this year for sure.

What is that camera doing?

Ok, so I said these month to month pictures were getting harder and harder to take and boy was I right! I still do not really like any of the ones we took. He was EVERYWHERE! He kept wanting to crawl towards us, then stand up, then pout, whine and cry a little. Such a mess. Here are a few from the photo shoot...We actually had two!
AAAhhhhhh.....

Little break playing peek-a-boo with daddy
I am going to pout with my lip out.
Ahhh...get me out of here. I am done taking pictures.

Lowering the crib and Tub time!

Standing in my crib!
Like my hair?
So this past week we had to lower Cole's crib. Yes, I came in one night after I had put him to bed. I heard something weird on the monitor so I just went to check on him. He had pulled himself up and was standing in the crib!  I have a feeling Cole is going to be one of those kids who learns to climb out of his crib. So Casey lowered it all the way down. It was funny seeing him so low. He just kept looking up at us like "what happened?", "why am I so low now?"
Peek a boo!
Hey! Why am I so low now?

Mom, I see you!
Is this ok?

Tonight was Cole's first time in the actually tub. We have taken two bath's a day since he was about 2 months old, but in the sink. Now that he sits up well and is crawling I figured it was time to move on. We still may take quick ones in the morning in the sink until he completely out grows it, but we will have fun at night in the big tub from now on. He seemed to love it. He was splashing and squealing and Casey and I were just watching him and loving that he loved the water. He is such a mess! Love him to death.

I love it!
Love all this space

Christmas Story and Santa at Church

Tonight we had a family thing at church. All the kids from birth to 5th grade came in there PJ's. They had milk and cookies, heard the story about the birth of Jesus, got to see Santa, and sing Christmas carols. Cole was taking everything in. He was a little quite all night because he usually goes to bed at 7:00 and the event did not start until 6:30. So I let him take a nap when we got home (he slept from 4:30-6) then we went to church. Our good friend Lisa Purkey and Beth Deming put it all together. Cole was one of the few small children that didn't cry when they saw Santa. Lots of people were impressed by that! It was funny to me. Next year maybe very different for us though :)
